Established in 2018, Smellydogz is a proudly Canadian company that puts the highest value on quality, usability, durability and most importantly. . . dogs!
Smellydogz was created by two friends who met at a police conference where Mike was instructing law enforcement on detector dogs techniques, and Tibor was a sponsor marketing his modular kennel designs and K-9 gear for police working dogs.
Mike has decades of experience in police dog training. He was the K-9 Trainer for a large police department until he retired, as well as a police dog handler of three working dogs over his career: a patrol German Shepherd named Bo, an explosives detection labrador named Max, and a narcotics detection labrador named Cruize. Mike has innumerable hours with a dog leash in hand!
Tibor is an entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in developing dog products and designing and manufacturing working dog equipment for police, military, and guide dogs. He has also procured working dogs for national law enforcement agencies.
Together the friends came up with the Smellydogz brand. Mike wanted a durable pet leash and collar for his work with civilian dogs—a very soft leash that felt like ‘well-worn leather’ in one’s hands made from materials that would be waterproof and odour-free through rainy dog walks and trips to the beach. Tibor put his manufacturing expertise to work, and together they designed a collection of waterproof, weatherproof, stink-free dog gear that is fun, fashionable, and functional.
The Smellydogz harnesses were developed next, inspired by tracking harnesses worn by police dogs. Smellydogz harnesses incorporate the best qualities of working dog harnesses with the practicalities of Smellydogz’s proprietary material and are scaled for everyday wear on the trail, beach, and street by every pooch!
Smellydogz caters to the pet market with a fantastic range of colours and products. Whether you choose Martingales, Double-Handled Leads, No- Pull Harnesses, or any of our great gear, let us help you with your outdoor adventures and training needs! Have fun out there and remember who’s walking who...!
